Don't be too quick to head out on your seasonal shopping spree. Take a second look at what you already own. There may be several ways you can repurpose your wardrobe that will freshen your wardrobe and save you money.
Before packing away last season's clothes, check to make sure they are freshly washed and well maintained. Even small spills or dirt stains can develop into significant blemishes by next year. Checking for this now will save you the effort next time you switch out your wardrobe.
Depending on the time of year, you may face some unusually warm fall days or cool spring evenings. To ensure you are prepared for either case, you may want to consider leaving out a few clothing items from the previous season.
As you unpack, take a close look at your clothes and other accessories. If there are repairs to be made, now is the time to get them done.
Also think about the changing trends in fashion as you evaluate what you own. Are hemlines shorter this year? Consider hemming your skirts a few inches to stay in style and save a few dollars.
Something as simple as new buttons can give a garment a much-needed facelift. Craft and fabric stores are an excellent place to find trimming and decorations to help you update your wardrobe.
You can even find a new pair of shorts in pants that are too short or shredded at the hem. Simply cut them to the desired length and hem. With a little effort and creativity, it may turn out that you don't even need to spend on a new wardrobe this season.
