Buy a Cocktail Dress and You Have Gained an Outfit For All Occasions

Buying a good looking and quality outfit can set you back a lot of money, but choosing the right type of dress can be one of the best purchases you ever make. If you can find an outfit that is not restricted to just one type of occasion, then you are onto a definite winner. You will not mind so much if an outfit costs you a lot of money if you manage to get use out of it and it does not end up sat in your wardrobe. Such an outfit is a cocktail dress.

Cocktail dresses are one of the most swish and stylish types of dress you can wear. If you want to play it safe then you cannot go wrong with a little black dress as it can dressed up or down enough for all types of occasions, weddings, office parties or even a day at work, especially if you want to impress the boss. The way you accessorise the outfit is also key, as a necklace or a flash new bracelet can make your outfit stand out above all others.

The added advantage of an outfit in black is that it will hide any lumps or bumps that you may feel conscious about and can act as a slimming aid. An occasion dress such as a cocktail dress also needs to be paired with a set of sexy shoes. The wrong choice of shoes could completely ruin your whole look of the outfit, so you need to decide if flats, wedges or heels will most match your choice of dress.

Prom dresses are a perfect choice of outfit for those more formal occasions and similarly need to be complimented with accessories such as a clutch bag, earrings or a watch in order to make you the talk of the party.

Barbour Clothing Profile

Barbour is a British based and originated clothing company founded in 1894 by John Barbour. Barbour was born in the Scottish town of Galloway, but left Scotland at the age of 20 to move to South Shields in the North of England. Always interested in the art of clothing and tailoring he opened up his first shop in 1894.

His first shop predominantly sold work clothing such as boiler suits and painters jackets and it was very popular amongst the rapidly growing town of South Shields. At the start of the 20th century, two of Barbours' sons, Jack and Malcolm, joined the company as equal partners with their father as the clothing business went from strength to strength. One of the company's best ideas was to create a clothing catalogue which they distributed worldwide, and by 1917 international orders were accounting for over 75% of their turnover, with orders coming in from as far as South America and Asia.

In 1918 John Barbour died and was succeeded as chairman of the company by Jack. The first world was was to prove beneficial to the company as their was a massive demand for their oil skin products. For the next 60 to 70 years Barbour continued to grow its niche as a work wear clothing company but also for the landed gentry and farmers who liked both the quality and practicality of the company's products.

In the last decade Barbour has started to focus more on the design and fashion markets which has seen its popularity and brand awareness grow, and it is now stocked in many fashion led independent stores. Today Barbour produce collections for men, women and children, with over 2,000 different garments, and have their own retail outlets in over 40 countries, including 11 shops in the UK alone.

Female Fashion Faux Pas' That Are Making a Comeback in 2010

Some items that make their way back into wardrobes are understandable, with their decline in popularity usually due to nothing more than the increase popularity of another older item. Others, however, are not so understandable and these three items, whilst once extremely popular when they were first in fashion, have been thrown to the back of everyone's minds and wardrobes - until now.

1. Double Denim. Once considered to be iconic of the 1980s (with the vast majority of clothing items from this era ending up going through a fashion faux pas stage at some point) and made infamous by Jeremy Clarkson, double denim is making a comeback in 2010. Be careful, though, you can't just go throwing on any old jeans and denim jacket.

A good double denim look that women might want to try out is super skinny denim jeans (in the traditional light denim colour), matched with a washed out looking shirt, sleeves rolled up. Alexa Chung pulled this look off amazingly at the 2010 House of Holland fashion show, showing that double denim is not only making a comeback, but it is massively fashionable.

2. Shoulder Pads. Not a fashion item that should be adorned by those who wear plus size clothing or who have a large chest, as they can make you look overly top heavy, shoulder pads may not be as popular as double denim at the moment, but they are without doubt back in style.

If you've tried on a few different outfits that have shoulder pads in them, but think you look more like a member of Milli Vanilli than uber-chic, consider buying a blazer that utilizes them, but in one size up from what you would normally buy. Helping to produce the whole boyfriend blazer image, make sure your sleeves are rolled up to show of those sleek, feminine wrists, team with a pair of skinny jeans and some Louboutins and your ready to go.

3. Tie Dye. It might be hard to believe (even more so than double denim), but tie dye is definitely more popular on the high street today than it has been for decades. Once the staple clothing of hippies in the 1960s, tie dye saw a brief resurrection in the 1980s but is now back in most stores, mainly in the forms of tops and accessories.

If you're reading this and thinking that you've just be to town and didn't see any tie dye items, next time you go, take a more careful look. In 2010, tie dye has become a little more refined and subtle and in some instances can be mistaken for a flowery or colourfully printed summer dress. Don't be fooled, though - tie dye is back and it isn't going away anytime soon.

Women's Vintage Clothing - Where Should You Shop?

Vintage clothing is loved for many reasons. One of the main reason to wear vintage clothing is to wear something that is one of kind and stand out in the crowd. From celebrities to club goers to the every day working gal, vintage clothing is unique and fun to wear.

It is also often made in fabrics that are very high quality making them stand the test of time thus allowing for continuous wear by many generations. Whether you're talking about jeans or vintage dresses, the attention to detail of days gone by are to be appreciated.

So the question is where to find these fabulous pieces? To this day you'll find many people frequent thrift shops in the hopes of finding a treasure. That's a great place to start. Items that are donated to thrift shops come from all walks of life and although not as easy to find as years ago, you can still get lucky and find some great pieces.

The other place to think about is estate sales. Estate sales are usually ran by a professional estate clearing house. Estate sales are where an entire home's contents are up for sale and many times that includes clothing. Since a lot of the time estate sales are after a homeowner passes away, you may very well find some fantastic pieces of vintage clothing.

Lastly let's not forget online auctions. The main one being eBay of course. Since people know they can make money selling collectibles on eBay, they usually save their items to be sold on this site. So why fight it? eBay is usually THE place to find all kinds of vintage clothing. The price you pay is really up to you. Bid as high or as low as you want but be sure to check out all the details of the item you are bidding on as well as the reputation of the seller. There are some very experienced vintage clothing sellers on eBay and you will not be disappointed at the selection.

Keep in mind that clothing sizes are not the same now as they were way back when. Measurements are usually included in the item listing but if not, just ask the seller. The best thing to do is measure a piece of clothing you own now for comparison.

Whichever route you go make sure you inspect the item carefully. You are, after all, buying a piece of used clothing that has been around for some time. The alternative to this is to purchase reproductions sometimes referred to as "retro." There are some fantastic pieces made now. The availability of sizes as well as modern stretchy fabrics allow for a wider selection to choose from.

Colour Yourself Out of the Recession

As we meander our way through the recession (or is it now a recovery?) and wonder whether there will be a double dip, it's interesting to note that fashion designers have hit the catwalks with bold bright colours and patterns. When the chips are down, the world needs fun, strength and vibrancy in its clothes.

Even black has taken as big a back seat as it ever can in the UK. Grey, black's softer, subtler more feminine cousin, has filled the shops.

When we consider all the doom and gloom, it's no surprise that the most dominant colour over the last couple of seasons in the shops has been purple. Not only does it traditionally represent wealth and power but it also conjours up exotic floral images. And surely we are all up for a bit of these in our lives when we feel that the reality is humdrum and financially insecure. Greens of all sorts from soft Autumny moss right through to the really vibrant grass and limes are all over the place, providing a sense of restfulness, sending us soothing and cheerful messages as well as health giving vibes. And there are strong, powerful reds which also speak of love, comfort and warmth. And so it goes on: Lots of bright colours combined in strong blocks or wild, oversized patterns. Colour is not being used subtly or delicately but is right there in our face, encouraging us to push through the adversity, stand tall and not to take stick from anyone.

Choosing a Bridal Handbag

To have a memorable wedding is a dream which every girl has in her eyes from the moment she understands the meaning of this intense and pure relationship. She will want every detail of the D-day to be perfect. Handbags form a vital part of any woman's bridal trousseau. So, when it comes to bridal handbags, it is not a surprise if the brides-to-be spend hours selecting them. But there are many aspects which come into the picture when choosing a bridal handbag. The most vital of these aspects is the style, color and size of the handbags. Let us have a look at these one by one.

Style

The choices of women vary to a great extent when it comes to buying a bridal handbag. Certain women love fashion handbags decorated with baubles and beads, while others prefer an eccentric stylish handbag with rhinestones and palettes. There are also no frill women's purses that although simple, still look elegant.

If the bridal wear you have chosen is quite simple, then add shine to your appearance with some trendy jewelry, a vibrant stylish handbag and high heel shoes. A handbag in subtle shades of pink or cream, adorned with stones and embellishments is also perfect for the occasion. Or else you can opt for a simple patterned handbag with flowers or some delicate embroidery to add elegance to your bridal wear.

Color

Once you have decided the style of your wedding handbag, choosing the color should be easy. If you are a bride who wants to play it safe, select a bridal purse in white, pearl, ivory or similar shades. If you can splurge, choose from a range of designer wedding handbags that match the color of your wedding gown. For a glamorous look select jazzy colors. You also have a choice of all time favorite colors like blue or red, they generally complement any theme. Also ensure that the handbag and other accessories do not clash otherwise with your wedding gown, but generally complement each other in varying shades.

Size

Last but not the least; let us take a look at what is the ideal size of a bridal handbag. Will you be using the handbag only as an accessory for the sake of your wedding pictures or will it rest beside your chair all through the event? What exactly is the use of the bridal handbag? Is it just for show or you want to keep some handy last minute touch up stuff for emergencies? Generally, brides keep some makeup accessories like lipstick, eyeliner, lip gloss, hand mirror, tissues, pins etc in their handbags. These things do come in useful at some point or other on the wedding day. So depending upon your requirements, the size of your bridal handbag may vary from a small palm size purse to a medium stylish bag.

The latest fashion trends do matter, but what matters most is that you should be comfortable with what you choose, after all a handbag is ultimately a reflection of your very own personality.

White Stretch Jeans - Now Acceptable to Wear Anytime of Year

White stretch jeans seem to float in and out of style on a regular basis. It might be that they are predominately seasonal attire that are generally tucked away for the cold winter months than brought out again for the summers heat and the light colors of summer.

There has been a trend though in the last few years to ignore the American fashion rule of no whites before memorial day and definitely no whites after labor day. This rule has been bent in recent years to the breaking point.

You are more apt to see white stretch jeans in the middle of the winter now more so than ever. They are usually paired with a big bulky sweater and tucked neatly into a pair of knee boots.

What To Wear Them With

White stretch jeans should be worn with colorful tops, doing white on white usually makes the wearer appear as if they are wearing some type of uniform, this usually is not the look that someone is after.

Pairing these types of jeans with a light tunic made from any color other than white is usually a good solid choice. These jeans can be dressed up by adding a pair of heels and some fun accessories.

Accessories go a long way with white stretch jeans, they can really perk things up a bit. Here is the beauty of it, you can pair these jeans with just about any type of accessory and they all look great.

Wearing these types of jeans is like starting with a completely blank canvas. You can add colorful belts and wear shoes you might have a hard time pairing up with something else.

When To Wear Them

These jeans have a somewhat casual feel and are usually inappropriate for anything other than a night out with friends visiting the local club or a day trolling around. You can add some sparkle and dazzle for the club wear and keep it simple for day time wear, adding a few simple accessories and a colored t shirt is the perfect way to wear them.

Wearing these jeans for more formal wear just doesn't work.

Tips and Tricks

White stretch jeans are usually very form fitting, and because they are white they are very unforgiving of figure flaws, use a little ingenuity to cover up the rough spots. If your tummy is the issue than add a short waist jacket- this also helps with the love handles. These are fun jeans and can easily be made to reflect your unique style.

Petite Denim Jeans - Finding Great Styles For Smaller Statures

Finding a pair of denim jeans that fit can be a study in frustration. Sizes are made for the average heights. If you are bit taller or a bit shorter finding something that fits can be a bit difficult.

Petite denim is usually cut to fit someone that is shorter than average. Many times the moniker confuses people into thinking that petite means the size of the body but it really refers to the height of the person wearing such sizes.

This sizing is usually reserved for women's and ladies sizes.

What Size Is Petite?

Petite is not a size in and of itself. It can be many sizes it is a cut not a size. When a lady wears a size 12 she can still find a size twelve in a petite cut. Often the sizes in petite cuts are small sizes but they do not have to be.

What is Denim?

Denim is a material that is sometimes called blue jean material. It is a blue canvas type material that a host of garments is fashioned out of.

Where To Find Denim Styles

You can find a slew of petite denim styles from many different vendors you can find vendors online that will specialize in denim fashions. You can find denim styles in just about every store that sells women's apparel. You can find them through catalog sales.

While denim fashions are widely available finding petite denim fashions might take a little bit more investigating. Many retail outlets will carry all sorts of denim fashions but they will not carry petite sizes. Simply because the retail stores caters to the average because that is where most of the sales occur. The largest sector of the population will fall in the average category.

Searching online is a good solution because there are many more vendors to choose from and many vendors that will specialize in your special sizing needs.

How Much Will It Cost

You will find a wide range of prices. The prices will range from twenty dollars up to hundreds of dollars depending on designer label and wear you purchase from. Shopping online will save you some money and is a really convenient way to shop. You will have a larger selection to shop from and you can read customer reviews of the product which will give you a heads up to any potential problems with the petite denim styles you choose.

Motorcycle Jackets With Voi Jeans - The Perfect Choice For a Racy Afternoon

Leather jackets have been driving the men's fashion world for quite a long time now. Every season, the leather jackets emerge as a new style statement for men flaunting the latest designs and trends. Today these jackets are not just winter wear, but have become style statements. There are many types of jackets available in the market, most of which are super stylish with buckled belts, shiny studs and stars and rivets to give them a flashy and trendy look.

Apart from all the showy and flashy jackets that are available in the market today, there is one kind which has been in fashion for as long as its inception - "Leather Motorcycle Jackets". Leather Motorcycle Jackets have been associated with bikes, military, rock stars and even the police.

Leather jackets are popularly found in browns, grays or black colors. Also, the men's leather jackets has become a style statement for many subcultures in the 20th century and has been iconised by many punk rock stars and military or biker groups. If we look at tinsel town's examples, Marlon Brando wore a famous 'perfecto motorcycle jacket' for his film, 'The Wild One' (1953) and by Michael Pare in 'Eddie and the Cruisers' (1983). Thus, the motorcycle leather jacket became a part of the "greaser 'subculture for both British and American youth. In the 1960's, a jacket would cost between $7 to $20, which was quite an expensive amount for the times.

Nowadays, most leather jackets are made in Italy, Kanpur and Karachi. These jackets are rugged and versatile, long-lasting in terms of material but the stylish garment needs to be carefully cleaned and stored. All leather garments must be hung on hangars to maintain their shape. However, do not enclose leather jackets in plastic cases or else they will become dry. Also, avoid its exposure to direct sunlight.

You should never spray perfume or any kind of hairspray on leather apparel as it can damage it. When damp, let the garment dry naturally and a conditioner might be used to restore flexibility. Make sure that there is no greasy residue left from the lubricating oils used when cleaning the jacket. If any residue is left, it will attract bacteria that will destroy your jacket from inside.

If you use moisture barriers, you will be able to protect these jacket from rain or other forms of moisture that tends to take away it sheen. When you are investing in a leather jacket, you must remember that it is a unique and beautiful piece and it will need special attention.

Light Gold Shoes - Not Too Bright, and Often Perfect For Most Outfits

Light gold shoes might be the perfect answer for someone that is not daring enough to commit to dark gold shoes as the color can sometimes be overwhelming. They seem rather loud to some folks and make them shy away from trying them out with their wardrobe.

These shoes are very stylish right now and are on the feet of every celebrity in just about every celebrity magazine there is.

Light gold shoes can be the perfect balance between the brightness of gold styles and the dullness of non metallic styles. These shoes are shiny but not to the point where they draw too much attention away from the rest of the outfit.

There are even tennis shoes that are made in this hue. There are high heeled and flat heeled styles as well. Ballet flats are a favorite style in this color There are also those that are made in the gladiator style that are absolutely perfect in this color.

They are very stylish and are among the in styles right now you may pay a premium because they are so in style and so warranted which drives the price up.

They are still very much affordable though. You can easily find a pair of light gold shoes for around fifty dollars. There are a couple of factors that will drive the price up. If they are designer styles then they are going to be more expensive. If they are made from an exotic material that will also drive the price up.

Of course workmanship is going to effect the price. Those that are made well than you will pay for it and in some cases it will be well worth the investment.

Men's Gold Shoes - Stylish, But Not For Everybody

Men's gold shoes will never be as popular as women's gold shoes have become. They are rarely embraced by most men which is a real fashion faux pas.

They are very stylish in loafer style as well as squared toed tie ups. They are the perfect accent to the drab boring dark suits and work well with a nice pair of khakis.

A lot of folks have a hard time thinking out of the box, but men's gold shoes are the perfect compliment to many an outfit.

They are the perfect summertime accessory and they really can jazz things up. A lot of men are not as willing as many women are to take fashion risks, but this is a must take risk.

Men deserve to wear footwear that they feel good about and that looks great. These types of shoes really are a fantastic addition to a wardrobe.

You can find men's gold shoes in many shoe outlets and department stores they are widely available, but know that fashion is fickle and although they are widely available right now they may not remain widely available.

You can also find a slew of styles of these shoes right online from one of the online vendors that deal strictly in shoes. Shopping online for this product is a perfect idea because you will have a better chance of finding the style and the size you are trying to find. There will be a bigger variety and the prices in all likelihood are going to be better.

There are several reasons why online vendors are able to bring you the same quality shoe at a lower price. First off they do not have the same overhead that a traditional vendor does, they also have much more competition than a traditional vendor does. They have to stay competitively priced to compete. Besides the fact that they are better priced you also have to consider how convenient shopping online is.

Men's gold shoes can really pick up an outfit a notch. They are perfect for both formal wear and for casual wear, of course they are not really appropriate for office wear, but are well suited for just about any other occasion. They are usually very reasonably priced and are widely available. They are in style right now and can be found through many different venues.

The Power of the Bib Overall

For as long as we can remember, we have seen bib overalls. Known for their comfort and durability, the bib overall has become the ultimate in work attire. The overall has a traditional pant with a bib area that covers the chest area. Overalls come with convenient pockets across the bib area as well as on the pants themselves. Some even include a hammer slip in which carpenters and construction workers can easily hang their hammer for easy access.

Times have changed. In the early 1700's, the overall was known as "slops". They were traditionally worn by the "working man" and were considered the clothing of the lower, working class. Over time, overalls began to be customized for the various working professions to make them not only durable but functional as well. In the early 1900's, women began to wear overalls as well. During World War II, posters highlighting "Rosie the Riveter" were displayed to empower women who assisted in the wars efforts in factories during this difficult time.

Nowadays, the overall can be stylish and durable. In general though, the overall is still considered the ideal clothing for working in. They come in a variety of styles and colors. Let's take a closer look at some of the options that are available on the market:

100% Cotton Washed Duck Zip Fly Bib Overall - This is the traditional look of the working bib overall. Known for its comfort and durability due to the soft washed duck material, this is one of the top choices for the working man or women. They offer a double-reinforced knee area and adjustable straps. So whether you're on your knees in the garden or down on your knees at a construction site, you get quality with comfort rolled into one. This overall also features extra pockets and loops to hold a variety of tools so you'll have easy access.

Rigid Denim Zip Fly Bib Overall - Known for its traditional denim look, this overall offers the traditional look of the bib overall as well as pockets and loops for holding tools within your reach. This overall also has hip reinforcement so no matter how many times you bend and stretch, you are given this added comfort and durability in the hip area. Added comfort and strength in all the areas where you put added stress on your clothes makes this overall a fan favorite.

Liberty Overalls Stone Washed Zip Fly Bib - Who says you can't look good in overalls. This stone washed denim design makes this overall stylish and functional. The triple strength needle stitching makes this a long lasting overall. As with the other forms of overalls, it features pockets and loops so you can keep your tools close to you. Adjustable straps offer comfort and flexibility. So if you're ever uncomfortable while working in a different position, there are no worries because you can easily adjust the straps to fit your comfort level.

Big Smith Overalls - This overall is a bit heavier weight than the traditional overall. So it offers added durability when you need it most. Known for its dark denim appeal. This overall features the traditional tool pockets and loops and even has a special pocket for your cell phone to allow you to carry your phone wherever you go. This is an ideal overall for those who need an overall that will last. So no matter how many times you bend and stretch; no matter how many days you wear them to the job site, you know you're getting quality that will last you each and every day.

Hickory Stripe Overalls - Built to last like the Big Smith Overalls, this medium weight denim overall is a big hit for constructions workers, roofers and more. Made from a medium weight denim and offering non-slip and non-corrosive hardware, this is the ideal overall for any profession where you are constantly putting wear and tear on your clothing.

Bib and Brace Overalls - The brother of the working overall, this classic looking overall offers modern durability with the convenience of the traditional overall. Great for working in or wearing during the winter months for added warmth.

As you can see the overall has come a long way. Men and women alike as well as children love the comfort, durability and appeal of the overall. While worn mainly for working conditions, the overall also offers a traditional style that can be worn on a daily basis; in all conditions. They are made to last. So the question is, when are you going to get your next pair of overalls?
