5 Features to Look For in a Modern Prom Dress

Prom season. You've been looking forward to it all year long. It's the climax to the school year's social scene. Naturally, you want to look your best.

In fact, you want to do more than that. You want to be the head-turner. The belle of the ball. The girl who makes other girls jealous because she's getting the stares from their dates.

So you absolutely need the perfect prom dress. The one that's ultra-cool and super-hot! Not something that your mom wore to her prom back in the dark ages.

Good news! Today's cutting edge trends in prom dresses give you a multitude of options which weren't available even a few short years ago. So if you want to be the forward-thinking fashionista at this year's main event, you need a crash course in what's hot this prom season.

Here are five features you should look for in modern prom dresses:

Prints

Don't limit your choices to solid colors. Some of the most eye-catching prom dresses these days are all about prints. This way, you can combine all kinds of shades for a uniquely stylish look. Plus, print dresses are more likely to match your favorite shoes and jewelry combinations.

The Green Sleeveless Chartreuse Multiprint Prom Dress combines hues of red, pink, and blue with a sheer midriff and plunging neckline. The Floral Fuscia Multiprint Dress features a fuscia print down to the thigh and a green print down to the floor, along with an open X-back and beaded empire waist. And the Long Silky Knit Print Halter Dress sports a white, lavender, and black painterly print with an empire waist and a tie-in-back halter.

Glam

Many of this season's prom dresses are all about the wow factor. Some feature embellishment throughout the entire dress. Others incorporate illusion fabrics which flatter the wearer even more. And some even have fitted silhouettes for a uniquely fashionable look.

The turquoise-and-lime Strapless Layered Tulle Ball Gown is easily identified by its sequin-encrusted sweetheart bustline and its lettuce edge hemline. If purple is your passion, you'll want to check out the Short Silky Halter-style Dress with Beaded Neckline and Waist with bows in the back at the empire waist and halter neck. And the Strapless Tulle Dress with Caviar Beading at the bust and hem is available in numerous color choices and has ruching at the empire waist.

Cutouts

If you've been working hard on your figure and/or tan, then you need to show it off when prom rolls around! So you may want a dress with sexy back or side cutouts to accentuate your natural beauty. Or maybe you'll go for a dress that is completely backless.

The Jewel-tone Chartreuse Sapphire Gown has sparkling beadwork which accents subtle cutouts, along with a crisscross back which ends in a V-neck in front. You might also like the sexy X-back on the Short Iridescent Taffeta Halter Dress, which also features delicate soutache detail throughout the skirt. And the Jeweled Neck Short Halter Dress is made of gorgeous matte chiffon fabric with a unique "inverted-V" back.

Bows, Ruffles and Tiers

There's nothing like a frilly accent to catch the eye! Bows can spruce up almost any style, flirty floral ruffles can create a jaunty look, and tiers can help build a three-dimensional ensemble. And if you can combine these elements, you may just have the most talked-about dress at the prom!

The bow in the back is the perfect accent to the moss-colored Silky Knit Short Dress, which features a bubble skirt, sequined hemline, and delicate spaghetti straps. If you're looking for ruffles, the white Spaghetti Strap Tiered Lace and Mesh Trumpet Gown with a black satin ribbon tied around the waist is chic, trendy, and comfortable. And the Short Strapless Tiered Organza Dress with Sash and Sequined Bust is best described as the "little black dress that makes a big statement."

Asymmetrical

Maybe you want your prom dress to look more like a work of art. Then you might opt for the asymmetrical appearance, which will stand out in a room full of more traditional designs. This look can be achieved using unique draping, straps, or necklines.

The perfect example of asymmetry is the One Shoulder Silky Knit Long Dress, which is available in red or turquoise with a side slit skirt and a fabric flower-detailed bodice. The fiery red Strapless Stretch Satin Dress with Side Shirring and Layered Skirt beautifully flatters fuller figures. And if you want to blend tradition with a splash of flair, the Black and White Mesh Prom Gown is a conventional black strapless silhouette gown with a white side-drape ruffle.

So when you're searching for your prom dress this season, don't settle for stodgy, frumpy, boring body coverings that may have been popular last century. Look for prom dresses with the most vibrant colors, dazzling accents, and sexy designs. After all, prom night is supposed to be a night to remember - so why not make sure everyone remembers the dress you wore to the event?

Clogs - What to Buy?

Today, "clogs" mean comfy slip-on shoes. They're at times made of leather. However, some clogs come with a bottom part made of wood. You can also find all-rubber clogs. These are usually worn when people work in fields and gardens. These are simply hosed off. So you can allow them to air-dry.

You will also find products with heels. They are however distinguished from typical mules by the higher vamps. Both gents and ladies can put on low-heeled or hi-heeled clogs. But above all, clogs radiate a unique personality when you're wearing them. But what should you buy? This article gives you some basic overview on that. Enjoy!

Shopping for these beauties isn't a hard task - especially if you're knowledgeable about some key steps before you buy them. Casual ones are, like said earlier, made of plain wood or leather. You should like the wide variety of attractive colors that are now available for men, women or kids. Here are some more facts to consider...

If you need something that offers you a little extra safety around the feet, it's a good idea to pick closed-back clogs.

Such products can offer you the sheer feeling of the extra security if they come with a decent and customized fit to suit your feet.

Do you have to stand all day instead of normal walking? Then go for wood soled ones.

Choose trendy products that come with wedged heel if you wish to raise your height a little bit.

When you're looking to reduce stress/pressure as you move on harsh surfaces, your key concern should be finding products that come with well designed energy sole.

Pick ones that come with a lightweight effect for your feet. This helps you move with comfort and ease. And you get the agility you desire. When you're considering buying open-backed clogs, make sure that the heels are somewhat above on the back side. Both your feet will get a bit more room this way.

Open-back designs are more suited when it comes to broader feet or excessive instep.

For those who have softer and tender feet (and suffer ache on the knees) it is a good idea to buy rubber soled ones. This will offer a more comfortable and improved cushioning feel!

Today, Clog Pads are among the key accessories related to this footwear. For those who want fun, style, along with stability, there are many Painted clogs to choose from. Such products come crafted with special flowery, butterfly, reptile, and leopard pattern and so on. But for seasoned buyers, plain and simple designs are usually the first choice!

Getting Vintage Style Hats For Your Look

Vintage hats are always in fashion and symbolize femininity. What keeps them a hot fashion trend? It used to be that a woman would not dare leave the house without a hat on her head. Hats could tell others if you were married or not, your standing in society, and how much money you had. Another benefit to hats was that they kept your skin protected from sun and wind. They also were useful when you were flirting, allowing you to hide part of your face while laughing, sneaking a glance, or sharing a secret with a desirable young man.

The materials used for hats include cotton, straw, fur, wool, and felt among others. If you are trying to figure out how old a vintage hat is, the shape is the key. In the Edwardian days, the hats were wide and very fancy. The 1920ss brought closely fitted hats referred to as cloches. In the 1930s, hats became more elegant in shape and less cute and mysterious. During the 1940s, they took on a graceful and strong shape and sometimes included veils. In the 1950s, hats became much more whimsical and were similar to those flowery bowed hats you would see in impressionist paintings. The platter shape style was also very much in style. During the 1960s, everyone was wearing pill box hats.

Over the last few decades, hats have changed a lot. Vintage hats are still in style because of their importance in society is still as strong as it was in the past. People may dress up less, but vintage styling still have a place in fashion.

You can invest in vintage hats without spending a fortune. You will find that they can be found for almost any price, which makes collecting them fun and easy. You can get them for a reasonable price and they can add a great deal of elegance and class to your outfits. Vintage hats made of straw or with wide brims look great with casual outfits and the fancier and tighter fitting hats go well with formal outfits and evening wear. They make great accessories and they are so affordable that you can have lots of different hats to go with all your outfits, both casual and dressy.

When you wear the right hat, it flatters your facial features. You have to take the time to determine the hat shape that is most flattering to your face. You can talk to someone at a local hat store and try on a variety of styles or you can find information online that can help you figure this out.

Vintage Hats are all Unique and Beautiful

Just like snowflakes, vintage hats are all different. Even if you spend a lot of time shopping for them, you won't usually find two that are the same. All of them are unique since the majority of them were made to order or added to by the owners. Sometimes, women would alter them for each of the seasons or to keep up with the latest fashions. You can do the same thing. If you have some damaged ones, you can take them apart and use the materials to make yours unique. Trimmings for one is also sold online. With all the vintage hats available, you can wear them to express your style and no one will have a hat like yours.

The fun part of vintage hats is trying all the angles they fit at and seeing how they look with your hair fixed different ways. Each individual hat is going to appeal to a different person depending on the way they wear it, the attitude they wear it with, their style, and their coloring. You can even wear some of them backwards. You can start a vintage hat collection based on your favorite type of hat style and get as many colors as you can. You can even add pins and jewelry to them to make them unique. People will admire your unique style.

Now that you know how great vintage hats are, you are ready to start shopping. You can shop online, at vintage stores, at thrift stores,or look in the attics of your home or a loved one's home. Shopping for vintage hats is as fun as wearing them so you are going to love building your collection.

What Materials Are Used For Making Shoes?

We are always wondering shoes made of which kind of materials should be the best shoes when we face such a large selection of various shoes. In fact, different kinds of shoes are made of various materials for different usages, which means this specific kind of shoes are suitable for a specific condition to wear. Basically, choose which type of material used for making shoes are decided by the raw material available and the varying climate conditions in different parts of the world.

There are many kinds of materials used for making shoes such as leather, canvas, polyurethane, polyurethane, carbon rubber, solid rubber, durable rubber compound, gum rubber, wood and so on. Different materials are used in different types of shoes.

In the 20th century, vulcanized rubber was the often used material for shoes making because of its durable and waterproof. Now it is used mostly in making soles of shoes together with plastics, especially for upper part that circles the shoes.

There is also steel toe means the toe is made of steel which can be the best protector for feet from hard objects, but of less comfort and flexibility.

For the main parts of a shoe, leather is the often used material as it is proved to have the most suitable qualities. Belting leather, bonded leather, bycast leather, shagreen, deerskin, patent leather, various leathers are of different characteristics. Belting leather is full-grain leather that feels smooth which is used in luxury products. Shagreen is known as stingray skin and is susceptible to water and stains. Deerskin is one of the toughest leathers and in high prices due to its rarity and proven durability. Bonded leather is not really true leather but a man-made material. Most bonded leather is made by composing 90% or 100% leather with latex binders to create a look of natural leather with less cost. This kind of leather are more environmentally-friendly than natural leathers.

In general, natural leather and bonded leather are two main leathers used in making shoes, shoes made of the second material would be more durable than the first kind, but less comfortable and flexible compared with the first kind.

A natural kind of leather is a breathable material which keeps the feet at a comfortable temperature. This kind of leather is also good for human's body and avoid causing the chemical reaction that results in smelly feet or even diseases of feet.

The Role Leather Chaps Have Played Throughout History

Leather is a great material that has been used for Centuries. It has always played an important role in western wear. Leather western wear items include cowboy hats and cowboy boots. Today we are going to focus on leather chaps and their history in western wear.

Leather chaps have been around for a long time. Starting from the 1600s there have been plenty of reports about the use of leather chaps, and they have continued to be revamped. If there has been any livestock handling the leather chaps have been around to help out.

During the Nineteenth century is when leather chaps become a little more well-known. Armitas were leather chaps that people in Mexico wore. Armitas were usually attached to a belt that a person had to step in to to wear. Armitas were made out of leather of calfskin, deer or sometimes even goats.

Through the Armitas the Texas cowboys developed their own style. Called the Shotgun style, Texas cowboys were some of the first to use full leather britches. The disadvantage of having full leather britches was that they did not have a seat and they were hard to move around in easily.

In the 1880s chap makers went to work to solve this problem. One way that fixed the stiffness was to make the chaps come in pieces now instead of one piece. They then curved the waistband to allow more movement for the cowboy.

The next chaps that were used were chaps that were used a lot during the popular Wild West Shows. Batwing Chaps, as they were referred as, allowed more movement for riders because they provided a wider cut then other chaps. They also were more elaborately decorated so riders could be recognized during Rodeos or Wild West Shows.

Chinks were made during the 1940s to provide more movement for riders. For hundreds of years riders that work in hot, harsh climates have had a hard time with full length chaps. Chinks were shorter versions of normal chaps, that only went a few inches after the knee.

Leather chaps have continued to play an important role in western wear. Chaps have been used during herding and outdoor yard work for hundreds of years. They may continue to be used for Centuries after today.

Benefits of Titanium Eyeglass Frames

Because they are expensive, titanium glass frames may look like an unnecessary luxury. On the surface, that opinion seems justified since they do cost a lot. On close examination, however, you'll discover that titanium has a lot of advantages over traditional frames.

These benefits outweigh the high cost of this unique metal. So what are you missing by not using titanium eyeglass frames? Lets examine their benefits one by one. Perhaps titanium glasses are a lot more appealing for your lifestyle than you once thought.

The high cost of titanium comes from processing this metal which includes the welding of thin frame pieces, plating and coloring it. In frames, titanium can be used alone or combined with other metals where it makes up about 75 percent of the material.

In both cases, the frames have a high degree of ductability and malleability. This means the metal of the frame can bend or elongate without breaking something stainless steel and other frames cant do. This explains why titanium is perfect for safety frames, frames with very thin rims, and delicate designs.

Since they are 40 percent lighter than steel, titanium frames are ideal for people who hate heavy glasses. In fact, you'll be surprised just how light they are. Never again do you have to suffer from carrying heavy metal eyeglass frames again.

Certain titanium eyeglass frames also bend and spring back into shape after being used. Thus, the user wont be bothered by eyeglasses that get out of shape. As mentioned above, titanium eyeglass frames are used as safety glasses since they are strong, non-corrosiveness and heat resistant.

With all these advantages, its easy to understand why titanium frames are gaining in popularity. Isn't it about time you switched to titanium eyeglass frames today? Try them on for size and discover the difference.

Learn to Keep Away From Fake Sunglasses

Sunglasses are available everywhere today - if you visit online stores, you will find huge displays of sunglasses, but have you ever wondered if all these sunglasses are original? You might be ready to pay hundreds of dollars for these sunglasses, but what are you paying for - fake sunglasses? Do not just spend your hard earned money like this - try to find out before you make any investment if you are paying for a product which deserves the amount. The problem of fake sunglasses has surfaced in an alarming way.

Sunglasses are said to be popular among modern people-specially the youngsters, who know that sunglasses help to enhance their fashion statement. This is one of the reasons why fake sunglasses come into existence. Students and youngsters are not willing to pay too much for their sunglass. They want the best of look and style but in a very small budget. This might not always be possible with several reputed wholesale sunglasses manufacturing companies, since the cost of good materials is quite high and they cannot sell good quality sunglasses at a lower cost. Taking advantage of such a situation are the several manufacturers of fake sunglasses. They target such customers who are not able to pay much but desire to have the best of quality, style and design. Moreover, if customers are not aware about features and quality checks of sunglasses there are chances that they are also duped by these sellers of fake sunglasses. It is important to be careful about what you are purchasing and how it is being offered. Check out for some alarming signals which can help you to save yourself from purchasing fake sunglasses.

  • If you find the price of these extremely low that all other sun glasses which are available, without any kind of special offers and discounts - you need to be very careful. There are chances that these sunglasses are fake and made of inferior material due to which they are offered at such low prices.

  • Suppose your manufacturer is offering you branded sunglasses such as Ray Ban and Versace but at prices which are far below their normal prices. Top brands usually do not offer such sudden reductions in price and if they do offer, they will promote their price reductions in several ways, through advertisements. Remember, this is usually for a limited period and is not offered during the whole year.

  • If you are making online purchases check out to find more details about sunglasses. Every pair should offer a version of enlarged image, so that the buyer can check out the details of the sunglass. If you find that any pair of sunglass has a very small image, with no details about material or lens, there are chances that your manufacturer is hiding some details from you.

  • Fake sun glasses are usually not available with a guarantee. If you find that there is no guarantee available with your sunglass, you can be sure that it is a fake sunglass. Normally, all manufacturers offer a minimum one year guarantee on their sunglass, as a part of their assurance of the quality of sunglass.

Finding Good Clearance Girls Outfits

You want to get nice clothes for your daughter, but you want to save money as well. This is a difficult thing to do because typically if you want new clothes that are fashionable, you need to buy new. This is not always the case though. You could always go with clearance items. Now, when you hear clearance items you probably think this is where out-of-date fashions like bell bottoms and leg warmers go, but that is far from the truth.

First of all, if you shop at the end of a season for next season, you can get great deals. Many stores will put girls outfits on clearance at the end of the season because they want to clear the stock. So, you can get clearance girls outfits meant for the summer in September, and just hold onto them for next summer. Many of these clearance deals can be as much as 50 percent and the clothes are perfectly good. You can do this for each season and have a constant supply of clothes cycling through the year.

Second, do not forget to look online. The deals on clearance girls outfits are truly remarkable. You can get plenty of deals on some extremely nice clothes just by going to the right websites. The reason for this is that most website retailers buy directly from the manufacturer or producer. That eliminates the middleman seen in stores. When a store buys clothes, they buy it from a supplier, who buys it from a wholesaler, who buys their clothes from the manufacturer. That is a lot of markup that you end up paying.

Third, if you buy clothes that are not as popular anymore, you can get them on big clearance savings. This does not mean you should be buying clothes from the 1980s, but you can buy clothes from 2008 in 2010, and still get some really nice girls clothes at clearance prices.

When you want to buy clearance girls outfits for your daughter, there are several options for you to choose from. You can get some amazing deals just by knowing where you need to look. Online is your best resource because of the huge amount of money that can be saved, but many retail stores offer clearance sales when seasons change, when the store is closing, or when they are overstocked at the beginning of the season.

Shearling Jacket, Coat, Or Vest - What's in a Name?

A shearling garment is simply one that is made from sheepskin which comes from a sheep that has been shorn once, then allowed to have re-growth of the wool. The fur on a shearling garment is therefore very short and soft - perfect for making into a fall or winter garment.

If you are interested in a shearling garment for yourself or as a gift for someone else, you will need to decide upon the style of the garment you will buy. While there are a lot of variations on each style, here are some basics that you should know first.

The Many Names for Jacket

Fashion researchers looking into the history of Western fashion over the past 300-400 years have found an amazing number of different names to describe garments meant to be worn for the purposes of keeping warm, looking elegant, or both. In fact, one researcher found over 70 names, including some that most people have never heard of. Have you ever heard of these, for example: canezou, capuchin, cardinal, dolman, donkey, djellabah, Eisenhower, maxi, mantua, redingote, pelisse, reefer, swing and Zouave jacket?

Each of these refers to a slightly different cut or style of upper body garment. While many of these styles have gone out of fashion completely over the years, some occasionally will make comebacks, being designed by modern designers for today's fashion buyers.

However, when you are looking for a shearling upper body garment, the most common name for what you are looking for will be jacket, coat or vest.

What is the Difference Between Shearling Jackets, Coats and Vests?

If you want to buy a new jacket, coat, or vest, you are going to have countless variations to choose from, depending upon the manufacturer and the particular look being sought. Each one will vary according to various factors, such as the country of origin of the sheepskin used, stitching style, button sizes and shapes, color, and overall cut. There are also variations such as using different types of fur (e.g., rabbit fur) for the collar and/or cuffs.

However, in general, you will need to start off by asking yourself whether you will buy a shearling jacket, coat or vest. Here is a brief definition of each, in order to better help you decide:

Coats: long garments that pass your hip, often extending down past your knees or even all the way to the floor.

Jackets: upper body garments that are shorter, extending no further down than the hip. Also called a top garment.

Vests: these are sleeveless garments for the upper body that are usually worn over a shirt.

Fortunately, you can find shearling versions of all three of these types of garments. But first, which type of sheepskin should you choose?

Choosing Shearling Garments Made with the Right Sheepskin

The best jackets and coats are made from sheepskin that comes from southern Europe, such as the countries of Spain, Portugal, France and Italy. Due to the climate in that part of the world, the sheep there have just the right thickness of skin and fur. This makes the resulting sheepskin soft, light and malleable - perfect for making into luxurious garments.

By contrast, jackets made from sheepskin from New Zealand, Australia, or Iceland are generally heavy, stiff and bulky in nature. This is because the animals in those countries are larger and each strand of wool is fat. While sheepskin from these parts of the world are great choices for seat covers, slippers and boots, they are not ideal for making shearling jackets.

Decide upon whether you want a shearling jacket, coat, or vest, and then choose one made from the right sheepskin. The result will be a fashionable, warm and elegant article that you will treasure for years.
