As we all know, China is a unified, multinational country, with 56 ethnic groups in all. From clothing and custom, we can know that each minority has unique culture and civilization. Actually, many people are interested in the life of minority, especially foreigners. Therefore, I want to introduce the characteristic of minority clothing for you.

First of all, because there are many nationalities in China and they distribute widely, so minority clothing is colorful and varied. What is more, most nationalities live in remote regions, so the traffic is not convenient. This reason leads nationalities have less communication with each other. Therefore, minority clothing is full of various characteristics.

There are 55 minorities and about more than 2000 countries in China. All the minorities live in 70% of these countries. Among these minorities, one minority can be divided into many branches according to different clothing. And one of these branches can be subdivided into many branches as well. Therefore, different minority has different clothing. And at the same time, different branches of the same minority have different clothing as well. That makes the this clothing become abundant.

Secondly, due to the difference of natural environment, custom and the aesthetic standard, minority clothing highlight difference between north and south. As the same time, due to this reason, this type of clothing highlight difference between grasslands and mountain areas.

Thirdly, different minority clothing shows different level. Due to the reason of history, geography, politics and the economy, some minorities still are in different stages of social development. That makes profound differences clothing.

The development of different minorities is unbalanced for the reason of history and other factors. Before liberation, some minorities had developed while some of them still stayed at the end of the primitive society. It shows us that social development is unbalanced. This factor makes minority show different level.

Fourthly, with the development and transformation of society and modernization, some minority clothing had changed.

China got so many changes for the open and reform policy. What is more, the development of commodity economy injected energy into national minorities, especially the information of fashion. Under this situation, the culture of minority clothing was affected greatly. Because these clothes are not convenient for dressing, so many minorities abandoned this type of clothing for casual clothes. To counter this case, some people think that minority clothing can not disappeared, so they advocate that these clothing can be transformed base on the originals.
