First, a Few Guidelines
Too many brides arrive at the temple only to be disappointed that the wedding dress they have chosen for their ceremony does not conform to the guidelines for that sacred edifice. So remember:
--The dress must be whitest white. Off-white and ecru gowns do not meet this standard.
--Your gown should not be heavily-ornamented as it detracts from the modesty of the temple.
--Long sleeves and high necklines are required for your temple ceremony: most dresses can be outfitted with temporary inserts and sleeves that will help them fit this guideline. Just be sure that your dress will be modest enough on its own to accommodate temple garments once the inserts are removed.
2010 LDS Wedding Dress Trends
--Two-Piece Gowns: These are especially flattering for brides whose body types need a little help through the hips. Look for two-piece gowns made from taffeta and lace that feature a belt, flared bodices, and gorgeous full skirts with box pleats.
--Asymmetric Design: Asymmetry, both at the neckline or at the waistline adds interest and a real sense of style while maintaining modesty. It's a thoroughly modern look that looks great on all body types and for more asymmetrical magic and as an added accent, many dresses come with a bow on the side.
--Queen Anne Neckline: The Queen Anne draws attention up to your beautiful face and is unfailingly flattering on everyone. Scalloped lace gives these dresses a "mermaid" feel, as does the out-flaring at the knee level.
These are just a few of the trends to look for in modest dresses for your 2010 temple wedding: make careful choices and your gown will bring you nothing but the most pleasant memories.
