1. First, wherever you are going to be storing the clothes, make sure you get rid of any moths that may in there. This can be done by cleaning all around the house on a regular basis, including under furniture, inside closets and around vents. Moths like to be in dark and warm places, so those are where you should clean. If you want, you can put out pheromone traps that will kill the moths. These will lure moths away and trap them in order to kill them. It will not get rid of all your moths, but it will do some damage to their numbers.
2. Always make sure you clean the clothing before you store it. Make sure you clean in hot water in order to kill anything that may be on the clothes at that time.
3. When you are putting the clothes away, it is best to put them in chests made of cedar. Cedar is very resistant to pests but they must be oiled every three years in order to kill any fabric pests that may come in contact with the cedar. Your storage containers should be large enough to hold your clothes without wrinkling them. You can use cloth bags but these do not keep insects out.
4. Use insect repellents around your clothes to deter insects from ever wanting to snack on your clothes. Be warned though, some of these contain harmful chemicals that could be dangerous to yourself and others within your home.
Once the clothes are no longer being used anymore, make sure you donate them to a charity so others can have the chance to wear these clothes and enjoy them. Every few years, recycle your daughter's clothes and bring in new girl outfits for the wardrobe. This will help to eliminate pests and keep your daughter's girl outfits in line with fashion.
