What Are the Meanings of Doctoral Gown Colors?

To graduate from your university for any degree you will need to wear a doctoral gown and the doctoral gown colors are important for letting people know what you have just graduated in and also the level you are qualified in. For example a PhD uses the royal blue colors, but there are various different industries that also need to be represented for the PhD's.

When you look at the PhD for engineering you will find that a bachelor or masters degree would mean that you have to wear an orange hood to represent engineering, but if you get your PhD you would still wear the royal blue, but an orange piping would be added to show that this was for engineering. There are many different colors standing for each type of degree.

These colors are necessary for you to wear and when you graduate you should look at the different places where you can order these from online or locally. You should give them about 8 weeks or longer to make it up for you, as there are lots of measurements and customizing that will have to be done to ensure that it is perfect for your ceremony.

When you are looking at buying your gown you should make sure that you order the correct doctoral gown colors, but sometimes the school which you attend will also want their colors on the robes. They often order the gowns for you.

You should take advantage of this and send in your measurements so that you can get your gown in plenty of time. Once you have ordered your robes you will also have to look at the graduation cap you want. Most of the piping and hood detail as well as the cap tassels and extra width on the sleeves can be additional extras.
