Firstly, menswear is an expression of social statue. In feudal age, clothing was the most important way to divide class. Louis was a king who advocated luxury. He used exaggerated dress to strengthen the power of the royal family. He stipulated that common people can not dress exaggerated clothes. In China, ancient robes were strict with color and pattern. People of different official positions wore different kinds of robes. At that time, officials used their official robes to distinguish the rank.

Secondly, it is the birth of gentleman. Low key and others-centered are the principle of gentleman. What is more, they abominate the complex and extravagant dress of nobles. Therefore, a pair of sharp patent-leather shoes, a white shirt and a cylindrical hat can show the temperament of men.

Thirdly, menswear developed in the age of dandy. At that time, French poet Charles Pierre Baudelaire and England writer Oscar Wilde loved beauty so much. Baudelaire groomed himself for 2 hours in bathroom every day while the aestheticism can be seen in the life of Wilde as well as his writing. Men liked to primp themselves impelled the development of menswear. What is more, menswear impelled the development of menswear concept.

Fourthly, it is time to go to Hollywood to tidy up wardrobe. After two world wars, America developed quickly. Hollywood rose abruptly at that time. Idols, especially men idols, were popular with common people. Dress of men idols became the most important impetus of fashion. No matter gentlemanly clothes or sexy dress, they all could lead the tendency of fashion.

Fifthly, menswear led a Newman tendency. From 1980s, men began to pay more attention to their dress. Neutrality appearance was popular with men. More and more brands were accepted by men. Therefore, men began to change their dress creatively. This change was called as Newman by European media.Nowadays, Newman was instead of Yuppies. Although mainstreams think that Yuppies were in the name of sissy, Yuppies do not care about that. They still go their own ways. They lead fashionable tendency.
