Fashion Mistakes Men Often Make

It is not uncommon these days for men to be as conscious about their looks as women. As women now try to do the things that men exclusively did in the past, the modern man also allows himself to cross the border and think of his own sense of fashion more carefully. However, not all men can be George Clooney or David Beckham, who have consistently showed how gorgeous the effects of elegant taste in fashion are. Often, men are left confused and end up breaking some of the basic rules in fashion.

Too many patterns

First, let us make it perfectly clear. Patterns are good as they break the humdrum monotony of plain colors. Unless you come wearing the most attention-grabbing color, which would often not work with formal gatherings, the absence of patterns in your outfit is a sure way to land on the list of the most boring looks in the room. However, there is a limit to everything - and yes, that includes the patterns you can wear at one particular time. Pants can have interesting patterns, and so do shirts and ties, but that does not mean that you can wear them all together at the same time. If you want to wear a shirt with a really nice pattern, pair it up with a plain tie or one that has a very subtle pattern. This will avoid the possibility of "pattern collision", which is often painful to the eye.

Too many colors

Having too many colors in your outfit will make the same effect of having too many patterns in it. The colors will try to overpower one another, and the result will not be very pleasant to watch. This does not imply, though, that you can wear a single color for all clothing items, from shirt to pants to shoes! That would look like you're applying to be part of a circus act. What you need to do is to take complementing colors that can create harmonious blends. Good color coordination will help you achieve a more professional look.

Neglecting classic accessories

Many people are often unable to distinguish classic from passé. While passé are those items that are behind the times, and rightfully so, classic accessories are those that transcend the boundaries of time. Concrete examples of classic accessories are cufflinks for men, which have contributed well to elegance of men in the several past decades as well as the men of this generation. Cufflinks for men have secured their rightful place in the men's fashion industry as one of the most valued and respected accessories of all time.

These rules must not be regarded as strict sets of laws that carry harsh penalties for violators, though. These must be seen as helpful guidelines on how to carry fashion in the most elegant way possible and can be modified or enhanced according to the times. However, it is important for beginners in the field to remember that they will be in better shape if they stick to these rules first while they try to adjust.
