In the earlier days the watches generally had a hinged cover on it which dangled open to show the face of the watch. The covers of these electronic items were generally complex and the whole mechanism was hand wound. The winding device was located at the top of the watch. These devices are most of the time round shaped and can easily fit in the palm of your hand. Apart from the hour and the minute hands, there is a second hand in these devices.
These watches were greatly popular during the mid eighteen hundreds till the mid nineteenth century and they were considered as a descent way for a gentleman to tell time. These gadgets are out of fashion these days. However, they are still available in few shops and some online stores. Nowadays the concept of keeping pocket watches has almost washed off from peoples mind. This is because of the fast world where people do not enough time to reach to the pocket and open up the time to see.
